Rochard Garden Sundial and Cardinal Limoges Box

A cardinal keeps company with a garden sundial on this Rochard Limoges box, a quiet scene that marks the hours in a backyard full of birdsong. It is hand-painted in Limoges, France, and it brings the calm of a morning garden indoors.

Counting Sunny Hours

A sundial measures only the bright hours, which is why it has long stood for patience and good days. Pairing it with a cardinal adds another layer of meaning, since many people see the bird as a sign that a loved one is near. Rochard paints each one by hand, so the bird and the dial vary slightly from piece to piece.
