Turtle on a Lily Pad Hand-Painted Limoges Box

A turtle perches on a lily pad, taking life at its own unhurried pace in this calm pond scene. It is a porcelain Limoges figurine box, painted by hand in Limoges, France, with a peaceful air.

Slow and Steady at the Pond

Turtles have long stood for patience, wisdom and long life, and resting on a lily pad suits this one perfectly. The scene recalls quiet mornings at a garden pond, when the only movement is a ripple across the water.

For Patient Souls

This makes a thoughtful present for a turtle collector, a gardener with a backyard pond, a teacher who encourages slow and steady progress, or a retiree enjoying a gentler pace. It also suits a graduation, since the turtle's patience mirrors years of study. Set it on a desk, a windowsill above the garden, or a sunroom shelf among plants. Collectors of turtle pieces often keep this one near the center of their display. Each turtle is painted by hand, so the shell and lily pad colors vary slightly.
