Turtle Riding a Cart Porcelain Limoges Box

$359.00 $0.00

A turtle has hitched a ride in a little cart, as if tired of going everywhere at its usual slow pace. This playful porcelain scene is a hand-painted Limoges box, made by hand in Limoges, France.

Slow and Steady, With Wheels

Everyone knows the fable of the tortoise and the hare, and this piece adds a funny twist: why walk when you can ride? The cart gives the turtle a sense of adventure and a story you can read at a glance. Each box is painted by hand, so the shell and cart differ a little from piece to piece.

Garden Path Companions

  • Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
  • Fits a turtle, garden or woodland animal grouping
  • Pairs with frog, snail and wheelbarrow pieces

For Those Who Take Their Time

It makes a cheerful retirement present for someone ready to slow down and enjoy the ride, or a graduation token for a student who got there steadily. Turtle collectors, gardeners and anyone with a pet tortoise will appreciate the humor. Set it on a garden room shelf, a desk or a windowsill near the houseplants, where it can keep its patient watch.
