Tall Round Limoges Box, Bold Pattern on Dark Blue

A bold, colorful pattern runs all the way around this tall round box, set off by a dark blue ground that makes every color sharper. It is a hand-painted Limoges porcelain box from Limoges, France, with a more graphic spirit than most florals.

A Band of Bright Color

The cylinder shape gives the painter one long, continuous surface to fill, and the pattern takes full advantage of it. Turn the box slowly and the design keeps unfolding without a seam. Dark blue behind the bright colors works the way a black frame does on a poster, pulling them forward.

Where Modern Meets Classic

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Suits a collection that leans toward bold or graphic design
• A strong partner for cobalt eggs and sunburst boxes

Tall Enough to Stand Out

Its height lets it hold its own at the end of a bookshelf or on a desk beside a lamp. Among softer floral boxes it reads as the contemporary voice in the room. It suits a design-minded friend, a new office, or anyone who prefers color over pastels, and it makes a fine housewarming present for a home with strong colors on the walls.
