Rochard National Cathedral of Washington DC Limoges Box
The Washington National Cathedral, with its Gothic towers rising over the capital, is captured as a small porcelain landmark. Rochard modeled the cathedral as a Limoges box, and its stonework was painted by hand in Limoges, France.
Gothic Spires Over the Capital
The cathedral took most of the twentieth century to build, stone by stone, in true Gothic style. It has hosted state funerals and national services, and it remains one of the great sights of Washington. Here the building forms the box, with its details painted by hand.
Washington Memories
Give it to someone who was married or baptized at the cathedral, a choir member, a docent, or a family returning from a trip to the capital. It also suits a thank you for a minister, or a retirement present for a federal employee after a long career in DC.
The Monument Collection
- A Rochard monument, hand-painted in Limoges, France
- Fits a Washington DC, church or landmark collection
- Pairs with Capitol, White House and Lincoln Memorial boxes
Collectors who follow the Rochard monuments often build a skyline of their favorite cities. The National Cathedral adds a spiritual note to a Washington grouping that is otherwise full of government buildings.
