Bridal Couple Limoges Box on a White Wedding Cake
A white wedding cake, crowned by a bride and groom, is the centerpiece of this hand-painted porcelain Limoges box. It was made in Limoges, France, and it preserves the sweetest moment of a reception long after the last slice is served.
The First Slice of Forever
Cutting the cake is one of the few wedding traditions almost every couple shares, whether the party is a backyard barbecue or a grand ballroom affair. The clean white cake and the couple on top make this piece instantly recognizable as a celebration of marriage.

From Reception to Anniversary
Porcelain has been made in Limoges since the late 1700s, after fine white kaolin clay was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768, and that pure white body is well suited to a wedding cake. Present it at a bridal shower, on the wedding day itself, or for a first, twenty-fifth or fiftieth anniversary. Newlyweds often keep it beside their wedding photo, and some tuck a spare button from the dress or a pressed petal from the bouquet inside.
