Embossed Sunflower Charm on a Yellow Limoges Egg

A yellow egg carries a sunflower raised in relief on its shell, so the bloom stands out to the touch as well as the eye. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France, and the upper half opens as the lid.

Sunflower in Relief

Embossed details like this sunflower are formed in the porcelain itself, then painted by hand once the piece is fired. The raised bloom catches shadows and light in a way flat painting cannot. Sunflowers turn to follow the sun, which makes them a long standing emblem of loyalty and warmth.

Bright Spot for Any Season

Set it on a kitchen windowsill, a breakfast tray or a sunroom table where light brings out the raised flower. It makes a cheerful present for a summer birthday, a teacher who loves sunflowers, or a friend who needs a lift. Collectors of embossed eggs often place it beside the blue flower and red flower versions to show the variety of the series.
